Why I do What I do....

When I was in the fourth grade, a simple history homework assignment sparked something much bigger than I could have ever imagined. That one project led my mother and grandmother into more than 60 years of combined genealogical research before they both passed away.

As a child, I was dragged along to libraries, cemeteries, genealogical meetings and classes, courthouses, and just about anywhere else they thought they might uncover another piece of our family’s story. At the time, I didn’t fully appreciate what those trips meant. I just knew we were always searching for records, names, dates, and connections.

What I didn’t realize then was that those experiences were quietly shaping me.

They instilled in me a deep love for family, a pride in our history no matter what we discovered, and an appreciation for the stories hidden inside old photographs and documents. Those early years planted seeds that would eventually grow into my passion for photo organizing and memory preservation.

For years, I said I would never pick up the genealogy torch. I thought that was my mother’s and grandmother’s calling, not mine. But looking back now, I can see that the impression had already been made long ago. Today, I have become the genealogy gatekeeper for my family, and I proudly carry the torch they passed down to me.

I wholeheartedly believe that every photo, video, document, scrapbook, and keepsake tells a story — a story worth preserving and retelling.

Some stories are joyful. Some are painful. Some are beautiful, and others may be difficult to revisit. But all of them matter. They help future generations understand where they came from, what their families experienced, and how those who came before them overcame hardships, celebrated milestones, and built the lives we live today. That is our legacy.

That belief is what led me to become a Photo Organizer and FOREVER Ambassador with FOREVER.

I wanted to help families preserve the memories sitting in boxes, drawers, albums, hard drives, and old media formats that they may no longer even be able to access. These moments shaped our lives, and they deserve to be protected.

For me, this work is about so much more than organizing photos.

It is about preserving weddings, births, graduations, anniversaries, holidays, and everyday moments that might otherwise be forgotten. It is about hearing a 10-second clip of your father’s voice when you can no longer remember exactly what he sounded like. It is about seeing your grandmother smiling at your wedding or watching home videos of a sibling who is no longer here teasing you as a baby.

It is about the emotions that come rushing back when a single image or document brings a memory to the surface.

It is about helping restore a damaged photograph that may be the only picture someone has left of their parents. It is about seeing the joy on a client’s face when they reconnect with a moment they thought was lost forever.

Most of all, it is about helping families preserve their stories so future generations will know them, remember them, and continue telling them for years to come.

If you have memories you need preserved and don't know where to start, contact me and we will come up with a plan.
